History of Incidents
Since the start of the full-scale conflict in Ukraine, a series of Russian military commanders have been attacked within Moscow.
This latest event echoes other serious incidents, including:
- General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed in a vehicle explosion in Moscow earlier this year.
- General Igor Kirillov died in late 2024 when a explosive concealed on a scooter was set off from a distance.
While a Ukrainian source earlier linked Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such claims are never publicly admitted as a matter of policy.
The war has been marked by clandestine operations extending into the streets of the Russian capital.
The examination into General Sarvarov's death remains active.
