Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his position after another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 games, marking the team's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got significant backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

The manager highlighted recurring weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a spell of this nature with results so bad.”

He concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, prove again what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
